Bell Museum
“I never intended to collect bells and hide them from the eyes of others. It was always about ensuring that traditional items, beautiful things associated with the lives of our people, stayed in Šumiac and did not scatter around the world,” says Mikuláš Gigac, a well-known Slovak folklorist, musician, and singer. And a collector of bells and cowbells.
Gigac's collection gradually grew – it now contains about 2000 bells and cowbells – so he had to repair the old parental wooden house. There, he also found space for other objects used by shepherds and villagers, with whom they lived and passed the long moments. But there are also craft products from other countries of Europe, America, Asia, and Australia. More info: www.sumiac.sk
